Hi There, long time no post, but that´s gonna change (hopefully)…
Because I´m a lucky fella, I was invited to join MAT REETZ on his Germany Tour in April 2017 as a drummer. Mat´s gonna release his debut album, which we wrote and produced at my “Home-Vasoldsberg” studio, on the 21. April 2017 on Tubleweed Records and it´s called “962” (which is exactly the distance in km that Mat had to pass to get to my place for each recording session… ).
Let´s start with one of my all time favorite artists I´ve ever had the luck to meet and work with: Melee Fabcic – former singer from Psycho-Path and now singer and writer in her new band WEREFOX. Actually WEREFOX has already released their debut album 2 years ago with huge success – especially in Slovenia this album boosts their career from a club band to a prime time national television act. Several shows were broadcasted over the national network and the medias took high interest in WERFOX´ career.
One year ago the Melee contacted me again and we shorty found out that we want to make the follow up album together. Because a second album is always some kind of a hard thing for a band, we decided to make it as rough, hard and uncompromising as possible. We recorded most of the tracks live to keep the positive energy alive as possible throughout the whole production.
Luckily we had a great room to record in at the Layer´s house in Kranj to record our basic tracks – Here again I want to thank them wonderful people at the Layer´s House a lot to make this happen – YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!! 🙂
However, we recorded vocals and some additional stuff during the mixdown session in my place – Home Vasoldsberg – which was also a very nice and relaxed experience for all of us (I hope at least 😉
SOOOO – the video to the first single “TRIADS” is released and shows the energy and liveness pretty much – I hope you´ll check them out live a place near you or listen to FM4 on the 23. March at 22h (“House of Pain” with Christian Fuchs) – because we´re there and talk a bit about the album 🙂
Here´s a perfect “Friday the 13th” entry: The Aritificial Habor just released their new video for their even-brand-newer single “Don´t Let Me Drown” – check it out and then unplug every electric unit in your bathroom…
TAH and me produced that track together in Vienna, Brixen (Porsenù) and at “Home Vasoldsberg” in fall last year. The video was directed by Daniel Andrew Wunderer and also the song can be heard on – TADAA – Spotify.
Niki Lerch filmed in 1998 a whole show of Sans Secours at a festival in Bad Radkersburg. He recently renovated and cut the material and put the whole show (!!!) on youtube! The film is more than a hour long and captured the very special energy of the band at probably one of their best shows they´ve ever played in a very cool way.
In the end of the show there´s even a guest appearance of Melee from Werefox (those days Psycho-Path). This clip is for fans and friends and I hope you´ll enjoy it as much as I do 🙂 THANK YOU NIKI!!!
Since I’m on vacation right now I find some time to update my little homeblog with some news and other things I’ve never had time to finish 🙂
First I updated that “My Projects” section with some words about my band “Sans Secours”. For those who like the band and who want to listen to their stuff, I collected all recordings and most if the artwork and compiled a DVD with it. If you want that DVD, just send me an email and I can send it to you.
And since I’ve finished my work on our house and studio, I’m getting to make more music than in the last years. There are a couple of projects right now I’m involved in as a guitarplayer and songwriter – together with my friends Andreas and Sol we will try to make an album this year under the name “Fancy 3” (which is probably the best name for a band ever :-)) and I’m also playing in Sol and Anita’s band “Supernachmittag”. Together with Niki, we’re slowly getting to get our electro project “Bronko Petrovic” up and running.
Another cool thing that happened in the end of last year was the collaboration with Werefox, the finest alternative band from Slovenia. We played and will play some shows together and in mid of this year we’re going to the studio for their new LPCD.
Yes, and when I’m taking about good old friends – Mat Reetz from Blackmail will join in the Breitenhilm groove and we’ll make some songs together next month.
Last but not least I’d like to mention “The Artificial Harbor” from Brixen (Italy/South Tyrol) – we’ve finished our work on their debut album and it’s gonna be released within the next months. They’re working on some videos and artworks right now and I hope you all gonna like it 🙂
Finally there’s a little holiday greeting and I can only wish anyone a happy new year and stay sane 😉
Again a half year has gone by without any updates on this site. Actually that´s a good sign, because this was a rather busy year so far and it doesn´t seem to slow down at all.
Right now I´m preparing for being in the jury of the German final of “Local Heroes” bandcontest.
However – we´ve just finished recordings for the debut single of “The Artificial Harbor” from Italy, that´ll be released some weeks from now.
Then another great EP of Mat Reetz (singer of Blackmail) just found it´s way to the stores. Check his showdates!
Then there are some other incredible stories from CHPLN (again) – after beeing the only act besides Lenny Kravitz at the official FIA aftershowparty at Sochi / Russia at the Formula 1 grand prix in Russia, their career made a huge step forward. Actually they were invited for a couple of shows in Russia and got a couple TV features, Interviews and god knows what – CHPLN´s gonna be big!
Of course I need to say that I´m superhappy that my old friend Michael Schimpl, who is one of the biggest musical talents I know out there, finally got a deal in the US and we´ll produce his debut album till X-Mas this year at my home.
BTW – besides working on those great songs from those great artists in this year I finally finished my home in Austria and finally got a name for my studio – it´s called “home vasoldsberg”. Yes – great things can sometimes be too simple ;-)))
For those out there who follow stuff that I do know that I´m working with CHPLN (spoken “Chaplin”) for quite some time now. These weeks are very important for us, because we released two singles from CHPLN in a short period one after the other. First came the a remix of “White Snow” by Shy Luv – which in the meantime crossed the 150.000 plays border on soundcloud (!!!!) – and the Song itself some hours ago.
The Rock Hard Magazine just turned 30 years (!!!) and to celebrate it´s anniversary they gave Hoger Stratmann and me the opportunity to choose the best performances from the RockHard Festivals during the last years (which were more than 100 different shows to choose from…) to compile our very favorite Best Of Festival CD… and here we go:
– Jon Oliver
– Amored Saint
All world exclusive performances – never released before – amazing sound quality (of course – Holger and me recorded and mixed it at the Glowing Stars Studio Dortmund/Germany (the heart of Metal Music ;-)))
This Anniversary CD is only available this month included in the RockHard Magazine #317!
So hurry and check it out – it´s great 😉
